Staffers at Castillo Mission Funeral Home spend a busy Thanksgiving helping families.
A few days ago, I had a chance to eat a delightful salad at an event. While that in and of itself is not the basis for a garden story, when I found out the salad was made from local vegetables picked that morning, I was intrigued.
PRAIRIE - Mary Lou Holliday, 68, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, in Chicago, Illinois. She was born Nov. 4, 1938, to the late Buddy Lenoir and Orean Marble. She was a member of Pleasant Plain M.B. Church. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Rose Hill Mfg.
Although Audrey's Flower Shop has had new ownership since Nov. 1, longtime manager and new owner Heather Peterson said very little will change. It will still be the place in Gloucester to get the largest kissing balls for this year's holidays, she said.
A three-story gingerbread house decked out with stained-glass candy window panes and wee icing icicles dripping from the roof can make for an awe-inspiring sight on the holiday table.
EUPORA - Kip Rogers, 40, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at his home in Eupora. He was born Aug. 12, 1966, in Kilmichael. He was a student and a member of the First Baptist Church of Eupora.
WAUKON/POSTVILLE, Iowa Keith Boese, 75, of Waukon and formerly of the Postville area, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon after a brief illness. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Makee manor in rural Waukon. Burial will be in Postville Cemetery.
