Props spark (Exotic flower) conversation

A few well-chosen props can spark conversation at your next gathering, says Margaret Shepherd, author of "The Art of Civilized Conversation" (Broadway Books, $16).
On one side of Robin Bauer's office, you can find a home gym and a row of free weights lining the wall. On the other, there's a black therapy couch and leather chairs comfortable enough for a cat nap.
Nov. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Mexican painter Alfredo Ramos Martinez's circa-1938 ``Women with Flowers'' sold for $1.81 million last night at Christie's International Latin American art auction in New York. The painting was the surprise top lot in a sale that included wall-sized canvases by bigger name artists, including Fernando Botero and Rufino Tamayo.
