Internationally renowned UC Davis plant scientist Shang Fa Yang died Feb. 12 in Davis from complications of pneumonia. He was 74. Born in Taiwan in 1932, Yang's research focused on the preservation of fruits and flowers. In 1990, he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
